We hope you are safe and well.
COVID has spiked dramatically in the Holy Land including Bethlehem, its surrounding communities, and, sadly,
the Hospital itself.
Continued curfews, closures and travel restrictions have created unprecedented stresses for families. With 90% of
businesses still shuttered, the Hospital now faces a $600,000 deficit as it struggles to care for patients who cannot
contribute toward their services. It is a dire situation unlikely to end soon.
As you know, Holy Family Hospital is the only hospital in the region that can care for high-risk pregnancies and
babies born as early as 23 weeks. It remains the safety net for thousands who depend on our lifesaving care.
We are encouraged and awed by our doctors and nurses who bravely care for patients at great personal sacrifice
each day. We thank you for your outpouring of financial support for our brothers and sisters in the Holy Land. The
1,296 babies born at the Hospital since the beginning of the pandemic remind us that life is a blessing and a gift.
Today’s extreme need is contrasted with ongoing hope and grace. In response, we are compelled to ask you for
an additional gift this year to help us through this crisis. We are extremely mindful of the many demands this
pandemic has placed on you as we all continue to help those less fortunate than us at home and around the world.
Now, more than ever before, your help will allow us to continue caring for the most vulnerable mothers and
babies of Bethlehem. Your additional gift today will buoy our staff, allowing them to say yes and welcome a
mother in premature labor, care for a one-pound preemie and provide live restoring surgery for an older woman.
On behalf of the families at Holy Family Hospital, we thank you for your generosity.
Together we create Life, Peace and Hope in the Holy Land.
