This Hummus Recipe Comes Straight from the Holy Land
Calling all Hummus Lovers!
On July 15th we had the pleasure of attending the fourth annual Holy Land Festival at the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land in Washington, DC. We had so much fun meeting fellow Holy Land-based organizations, listening to traditional Palestinian music, and eating as much Middle Eastern food as we could handle.
The tastes and smells of the Festival certainly made us homesick for Bethlehem. And for this particular homesickness there is only one cure… HUMMUS! Thankfully, within our HFHF family we have – like all families – some secret family recipes. We thought it would be fun to share one with you, since you’re members of the HFHF family too.
So, if you’re looking for a yummy Middle Eastern snack to munch on this week, look no further. Our Foundation’s delicious hummus recipe comes straight from the Holy Land and is sure to satisfy your snack craving all week long.
HFHF Secret Family Hummus Recipe
What you will need:
2 cups cooked and peeled chickpeas
1/2 cup tahini sesame paste
1/2 cup lemon juice
1/4 cup reserve water from cooking chickpeas
4 cloves peeled garlic
1/4 cup olive oil
Salt to taste
After cooking and peeling your chickpeas, place all ingredients in food processor except for the chickpea water. Process for several minutes, adding the chickpea water as needed. When you have reached your desired consistency, serve on a flat plate. Garnish with parsley and olive oil and enjoy!
